Keith Richards has no sympathy for the rap world.

The Rolling Stones rocker shared his distaste for the genre in a recent interview with the New York Daily News.

“What rap did that was impressive was to show there are so many tone-deaf people out there,” he says. “All they need is a drum beat and somebody yelling over it and they’re happy. There’s an enormous market for people who can’t tell one note from another.”

Richards, 71, summarized the genre in his own words: “Rap -- so many words, so little said.”

The legendary musician is entitled to his opinion ... but we would also love to know how much rap music he actually listens to. Anyway, the guitarist doesn't just criticize rap in his interview. He's also not a big fan of heavy metal.

“Millions are in love with Metallica and Black Sabbath,” he says. “I just thought they were great jokes.”

He's also disappointed with modern rock'n'roll at large, saying most rock music today is "endless thudding away, with no bounce, no lift, no syncopation.”

The guitarist also doubled down on previous comments he made about the Beatles album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, which he recently called “a mish-mash of rubbish.”

In the News interview, he says the Beatles' now famous Shea Stadium concert in 1965 wasn't very impressive.

“As a band, they weren’t in sync with each other,” Richards says.

For what it's worth, the article makes sure to note that Richards "follows every put-down with a wink." Maybe there's a rap-loving phase in his future just yet.
