Kelly Clarkson just put her spin on the ballad of the year a.k.a. Sam Smith's "Stay With Me" at Symphony Park in Charlotte during her first solo concert since giving birth in June.

"I love this song. I know you've probably heard it bunch so just bear with me," Clarkson, who earned the first American Idol title in 2002, told the audience Saturday. "I just like the word 'stay' in songs. I'm going to sing every song with 'stay.'"

The 32-year-old was referencing her "Don't You Wanna Stay" duet with Jason Aldean.

Clarkson is currently preparing for the holiday blitz by re-promoting her 2013 Christmas album, Wrapped in Red, with a music video for the title track. On Instagram this month, she teased the video with a photo of herself holding to daughter River Rose.
