If you keep your composure while watching this Kelly Clarkson performance from Thursday night's American Idol, beware: Your tear ducts may be broken.

Our very first American Idol returned to the magical blue stage to do a stripped down and breathtaking version of her song "Piece by Piece," a deeply personal tune that Clarkson wrote about what it felt like not to have her father in her life growing up. Clarkson, who wrote the song for her daughter, has opened up before about how the ballad is often difficult for her to get through and it seems this night was no exception.

Several times toward the end of the song, a "very pregnant" Clarkson had to pause and compose herself before continuing to sing -- but it's understandable, considering even judge Keith Urban couldn't keep it together.

Once it was over, Clarkson admitted to host Ryan Seacrest that she was overwhelmed by emotions, stemming from the subject matter and the fact that she was feeling a bit nostalgic.

Frankly, Kelly, so are we.

Lesson to the Idol hopefuls in the wings: That's what a star looks like.
