The hip hop world is mourning after the loss of one of its finest rappers, Phife Dawg from A Tribe Called Quest, who died on Wednesday following a long battle with diabetes.

Honouring the legacy of a rap music trailblazer, Kendrick Lamar led a raucous 18,000 strong crowd during his concert in Sydney, Australia -- taking a minute to pay tribute to who many dubbed the "Five Foot Assassin."

"Today, we lost one of the pioneers in hip hop, by the name of Phife Dawg," Lamar told the crowd. "Right now, ain't nobody cheering about me. We're gonna give it up for him, for allowing me to do what I'm doing on this stage right here, right now, today."
