Drake may have started from the bottom, but Kendrick Lamar is currently at the top.

The rapper's new album To Pimp A Butterfly was streamed more than 9.6 million times during its first day on Spotify, according to a company release. That shatters the record previously held by Drake, whose album If You're Reading This It's Too Late, racked up 6.8 million streams during its first day on the music-streaming service.

Continuing a recent trend of surprise albums, To Pimp A Butterfly arrived a week ahead of schedule, much to the surprise and delight of Kendrick's fans, including Taylor Swift.
