Attendees flocked to Churchill Downs on Saturday dressed in all manner of flora and fauna. As patrons of the annual event know, the fashion in the stands can command almost as much attention as the action on the track. This is one event where wallflowers need not apply.
Taking a cue from classic southern belles, women paired wide-brimmed hats adorned with flowers, feathers and ribbons with brightly colored dresses in shades of pastel. Wearing a hat to the Derby is meant to bring good luck, and judging by the plumage on these ladies' heads, they weren't taking any chances.
