Say goodbye to gross, mushy buns forever, America.

Plan Check, an restaurant in Los Angeles, is well known for its interesting and original takes on traditional American cuisine -- right down to the condiments it uses.

Chef Ernesto Uchimura, who is also the owner of Umami Burger, reimagines everyone's favorite burger topping, ketchup, as a thin slice of "leather," forever putting an end to mushy, over-sauced burgers as we know them.

To make the leather, tomato paste is blended with soy sauce, garlic and other spices. Then, it's dehydrated in an oven it until it's dry. If you're put off by the idea of that leathery texture in your mouth, don't worry: once the slice is put on the burger, it melts and rehydrates into the perfect portion of sauce.

The leather square is featured on Plan Check's signature burger, which is made with a beef patty, bacon, cheese, pickles, onions and a fried egg.

The future of burgers is here.
