Jon Stewart isn't the only one putting a Comedy Central show in his rear view mirror.

Mashable has confirmed that Key & Peele -- starring and co-created by comedy duo Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele -- will be ending after its current season.

Key tells The Wrap, who first reported the news, that the decision came when he and Peele decided it was time to pursue other projects.

"This is our final season -- and it’s not because of Comedy Central, it’s us," said the actor, who earlier this month was nominated for outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series Emmy for his role on the series. “It was just time for us to explore other things, together and apart. I compare it to Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor. We might make a movie and then do our own thing for three years and then come back and do another movie."

Key & Peele premiered on Comedy Central in 2012 and in its time on the network earned 11 Emmy nominations and acted as a launching pad for both comedians, who both appeared in last season of FX's Fargo.

Separately, Key had a recurring role on the final season of NBC's Parks and Recreation and appeared in Pitch Perfect 2.

Peele, meanwhile, helped co-write an upcoming comedy film called Keanu in which he and Key star alongside Will Forte and Method Man.

Season 5 premiered July 8 and concludes in September.
