The original footage of Keyboard Cat was shot in 1985 by artist and nose acrobat (just watch the video) Charlie Schmidt. In 2007, Brad O'Farrell came across the quirky clip and decided to use a snippet as a play off to fail videos. Something about a musically-inclined feline made even the most painful fail moments laughable -- and a meme was born.
