KFC wants to make your occasional fried chicken indulgence more of a weekly habit.

Starting Nov. 12, KFC is testing at-home delivery in San Francisco and Los Angeles outlets, Associated Press reports.

The chain, which is starting the test with 60 stores, is working with food delivery app Door Dash to bring buckets of golden fried chicken, coleslaw and biscuits to customers' doorsteps.

Customers may order via DoorDash's app or website.

Delivery service is expected to be offered in Houston by the end of 2015, which will bring the count to 100 stores, and may expand to more cities if the experiment proves successful.

KFC's U.S. Chief Information Officer Chris Caldwell tells CNBC that though the company's in-house delivery was unsuccessful many years ago, this is the first venture with a delivery service like DoorDash.

There will be a delivery fee, and prices of items (the company reports the entire menu is available for delivery) may vary according to neighborhood.

Other fast service restaurant chains like Taco Bell and Chipotle work with delivery services, as do high-end and independent restaurants.

Companies like DoorDash, Postmates and other meal delivery services are changing the way America eats.

You used to have to go out for dinner or settle for pizza delivery again.

Now you have your choice of virtually any meal, from a drive-thru burger to gourmet filet mignon, delivered to your doorstep, so you can feast in your pajamas.

KFC already offers delivery in several Asian countries.

If this enthusiastic reaction is any indication how well delivery will do here in the U.S.:

It could be a golden-fried slam dunk.
