It isn't often that I come across a software or service and think to myself, "Y'know, my sons might really like this." My oldest is six, the youngest not quite a year old. KidZui, though, looks like something that might be up their alley.

The company is led by Clifford Boro, the chairman of the company VideoEgg, who has recently made headlines with their new Pay for Engagement video advertising model. Today, though, Clifford makes headlines with his newly funded KidZui, the browser for kids aged 3 through 11. The browser works by essentially only allowing a whitelist of sites of around 500,000 website into the system. The approval process is done by panels parents and teachers.

This round of financing was led by Maveron, the VC firm best known as being led by Starbucks Chief Executive Howard Schultz. Other investors in the La Jolla, Calif. startup include First Round Capital and Emergence Capital Partners, with a launch slated for this Spring. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Hopefully, this weekend, my son will have a hole in his very busy schedule and review the experience for us. More on that story, as it develops.
