North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un was filmed walking across the stage with what appears to be a limp during a ceremony marking the 20th anniversary of his grandfather Kim Il-sung's death. State-run media released footage of the event on Tuesday, and international news outlets soon picked up on the purported limp.
Footage like this is especially rare coming out of North Korea, where events are choreographed and depicting leadership as weak is frowned upon because they should be seen as divine. (As The Guardian points out, state media were barred from filming Kim Il-sung from certain angles because he had a tennis-ball sized growth on the back of his neck.)
However, Kim Jong-Un hasn't exactly had the smoothest of gaits over the past year or so. In the video below, which was posted in April, the North Korean leader looks to also drag his feet while visiting soldiers:

If Tuesday's footage truly does show a limp, the cause of it is unknown. However, Kim Jong-Un's weight gain over the past few years, could play a part in his changing gait. His father, Kim Jong-Il, who died in 2011, was also filmed walking with a limp in 2008 after reportedly suffering a stroke.
