Amazon has just added a major new platform to its Kindle arsenal: Mac. The free application lets you read e-books on your computer, including those you’ve purchased previously from Amazon.
Like its applications for iPhone and iPod touch, BlackBerry and the PC, Kindle for Mac is designed to sync with your Kindle device, so if you’re reading an e-book on your Mac, you can pick right up where you left off when you’re reading from your Kindle on the train.
Kindle for Mac can be downloaded from Amazon’s website now, but note, it requires Mac OS X 10.5 or above. In a statement, Amazon says that full text search and the ability to create and edit notes and highlights will be added in the near future.
