The company also broke its Black Friday record for Kindle sales and Kindle products occupy the top four spots for overall sales for Amazon. As usual, the company declined to provide exact figures for sales.

In the fourth quarter of 2011, Amazon sold about 6 million Kindles, according an estimate by Stifel Nicolaus analyst Jordan Rohan. Amazon claimed to have sold 1 million Kindle devices per week last December.

Forrester Research, meanwhile, estimated in September that Amazon had sold a total of 7 million Kindle Fires -- 5 million of which were purchased during the 2011 holiday season. Though Amazon claimed that the Kindle Fire held 22% of the tablet market, iSuppli estimated that the device never got more than 14%.

Amazon is similarly mum about its profits -- or more likely losses -- from the devices, but the company likely took a huge hit during its Cyber Monday sale. iSuppli estimated in September 2011 that the Kindle Fire's components cost $209.63.
