A note to everyone going crazy over a haircut: You know nothing.

When Game of Thrones star Kit Harington arrived at the UK premiere of the drama Testament of Youth sporting a fresh trim on Monday, he probably wasn't expecting his locks to cause such a stir of Westeros theories. But it's looking pretty desperate right now for such theorists, so there's much speculation about what the haircut could mean for Jon Snow.

Several think pieces about what the haircut could represent in the show's plot have been written, postulating that the shorter cut brings dark tidings of Jon Snow's death.

People are out there thinking Jon Snow died because the actor playing him got a haircut. Lulz.— Internet, Eh? (@InternetEh) January 7, 2015

Harington previously stated that his long hair is part of his contract with HBO, so these claims could hold some weight if Harington, say, got a buzz cut. However, Harington's minor new cut is probably just a sign of the end of filming Season 5.

As you can see, Harington's hair is essentially the same. Also, he has never smiled.

Spoilers below. Tread carefully if you are not caught up.

The idea that the haircut is a sign of an event at the end of George R.R. Martin's A Dance with Dragons requires multiple assumptions:

That the event in question is final and certain, and

That the show will be completely caught up with the book series by the end of the season.

Pretty hefty assumptions to make based on a few inches of hair.
