Watch Lady Gaga Defend One Direction From VMA Haters

Lady Gaga, a longtime anti-bullying advocate, defended the honor of perhaps the most popular boy band in the world right now: One Direction.

At Sunday night's MTV Video Music Awards, after the British quintet took home the award for "Song of the Summer" for their hit "Best Song Ever," part of the audience started to boo. Lady Gaga later approached the members of One Direction backstage and offered some words of wisdom.

"I don't know what I heard out there, but if I did hear what I heard out there, I just want to tell you that you deserve every bit of success that you have," the pop superstar said.

"And don't you dare let those people boo you. And I put that booing in my own show because I wanted to make a comment about that. And it's so f*cked. I want to leave right now. I don't want to stay anymore because I don't want to be in a room where people will boo like that. [...] You deserve it. You deserve a lot. You deserve a lot."

The boys responded with, "Ah, well. F*ck it."

Well done, Gaga. Boy bands have feelings, too.
