The last batches of delicacies from the famous Crumbs Bake Shop are nestled away in the remote town of Paducah, Kentucky.
Crumbs Bake Shop abruptly closed all 48 of its stores across 10 states last week, but don't worry: Sweet-toothed investors are reviving it. Crumbs will be acquired in a Chapter 11 process by the newly formed Lemonis Fischer Acquisition Company, LLC, a joint venture created by Marcus Lemonis LLC and Fischer Enterprises, LLC. Lemonis hosts CNBC's The Profit.
Naturally, Mashable staff wanted to rejoice at the chain's resurgence. To do so, we needed to get ahold of those cupcakes. At first, one of the company's representatives told us it would be impossible to obtain authentic Crumbs cupcakes because the acquisition had not yet closed and the company was no longer baking the cupcakes.
But we continued the mission. With some luck and persistence, we found them in Paducah, Kentucky, and had them shipped to Mashable immediately.
Crumbs Bake Shop is reopening under Dippin Dots owner Marcus Lemonis, and Dippin Dots is based in Paducah, where the cupcakes shipped from. We don't know how and when the cupcakes were baked, but we were assured they were indeed edible.
