Ed note: Apologies to Last.fm for breaking embargo on this one, but others had already done so.

Last.fm, the music recommendation community, will be launching a video recommendation service this week.

Leveraging the existing relationships Last.fm has with major and independent labels, you can now find videos using their community recommendation features. Initial content will be provided by indie labels including Ninja Tune, Nettwerk Music Group, Domino, Warp, Atlantic and Mute, which represent artists such as the Arctic Monkeys, Moby and Aphex Twin in their libraries. You'll be able to create personalized video channels in the same way that music radio stations are made, and videos can even be chosen based on existing music preferences.

Soon to come with Last.fm's latest video offerings is content from EMI and Warner. They are in negotiations with Universal and Sony as well. The development for video offerings is an important one as Last.fm is among the music streaming companies being threatened by the hiking royalties costs.
