There can occasionally be consequences from eating doughnuts beyond cellulite.

Expectant mom Ria Findlay bit into her Krispy Kreme doughnut expecting to find a creamy, caramel center — instead she found a blue latex glove.

The soon-to-be mother of two had never tried a filled doughnut before, and her first experience may have definitely put her off.

@krispykremeUK @Tesco since when is 'rubber glove' the new filling? #disgusting #WTF pic.twitter.com/6s2kL05I9o— Ria Findlay (@Ria_Findlay) June 18, 2015

“It was my first doughnut that I’d ever eaten without the hole inside so it was supposed to be an exciting new experience," she told the Mirror. "As it was my first, I was discussing flavours of the filling with my colleague next to me ... It was like: ‘Oooh there’s caramel, and cream and oh what’s this blue stuff?’ ... After a bit of prodding we realized it was a prep glove ... Being 7 months pregnant, my gag reflex was in overload."

So this happened today... A rubber prep glove was inside the #krispykreme I was eating . #doughnut #donut #wtf #krispykremeuk #traumatised A photo posted by Ria Findlay (@ree__ree) on Jun 18, 2015 at 9:20am PDT

Findlay posted pictures of the offending baked good on social media, and quickly received a comment from Krispy Kreme's Instagram account:

Hi Ria, please accept our apologies. Please can you send full details over to us so we can investigate and liaise with you > [email protected] Our customer care team will be in touch with you tomorrow.

Krispy Kreme also released a statement on the matter:

We are extremely sorry to hear about this incident. We take our food hygiene very seriously and are currently conducting a full investigation into the matter.

Krispy Kreme has an exemplary food safety record and we endeavor to take care at all stages of our food production process to ensure that products are produced in a hygienic and safe manner.

Once our investigations are complete, we will write to the customer to advise her of our findings.

Well, perhaps there's one reassuring element to the whole story: At least now we know the doughnuts are definitely handmade.
