You can take the man out of the jungle, but you can't take the jungle out of the man. That's the premise behind the upcoming film The Legend of Tarzan, starring Alexander Skarsgård as the former vine-swinger turned Victorian gentleman.

Though most of the trailer features pulse-pounding drum music and epic jungle battles, the film will pick up with Tarzan 10 years into his life as a member of human civilization. The character ends up back in the Congo due to a diplomatic mission -- and as you can imagine, returning to his old swinging grounds brings back some old habits. Christoph Waltz is nefarious as ever as Captain Rom, who appears to be using Jane (Margot Robbie) as bait for Tarzan. Samuel L. Jackson also makes the best of his brief appearances in the trailer, and keeps things from seeming too hokey or serious.

"You are lord of the apes," he exclaims. "King of the jungle! Tarzan! TAR-ZAN!" It'll take more convincing, but he's right.

The Legend of Tarzan releases in July 2016.
