Springfield just came to life. Lego life, that is.

Master builder Matt De Lanoy recreated The Simpsons' hometown in glorious brick form, nailing every detail down to the statue of Jebediah Springfield.

De Lanoy told Mashable that with the exception of Android's Dungeon and Krusty Burger, he built the majority of Springfield between April and June of this year. He finished just in time for the Chicago Brickworld convention, which took place in mid-June. De Lanoy also reused streets from his brick recreation of Futurama's New New York.

De Lanoy doesn't have any idea how many bricks it took to build all of Springfield, but he says he's happy to leave it that way.

"I suspect that if I were to know the piece count, then I could get a rough estimate of how much money overall I'd spent on it -- and that's just something I don't want to know," he said.
