Even though Intel is known for its processors found in most PCs, the company holds just a teeny-tiny share of the smartphone market. Apple uses its own custom chips in the iPhone, and almost all non-Apple phones have processors from companies like Qualcomm.

Lenovo's P90 smartphone, which the electronics manufacturer unveiled at International CES on Monday, is giving Intel a little boost. The phone packs a "high-end" 64-bit Intel Atom processor that "delivers solid system performance and a smooth entertainment experience," the company says.

Lenovo has done business with Intel before. The Vibe K900, for example, has an Intel processor. Reports began circulating last month that Lenovo would include Intel processors in more of its phones, too.

Though it's hardly a huge leap, it's a move that could help Intel break into the mobile market.

Alongside its processor, the phone has a 5.5-inch FHD display and 4000mAh battery, as well as a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and 5-megapixel front-facing. The phone, set for release next month, has 32GB of internal storage and 2GB of RAM, with a choice of red, black or white for the case's color. No pricing information was immediately available.
