LONDON -- French sports paper L'Equipe has thanked English football fans following the France-England international friendly match played Tuesday night at London's Wembley Stadium.

Before the match, the entire stadium took part in an emotional rendition of "La Marseillaise," the French national anthem, before gathering in a circle in the centre of the pitch to observe a minute's silence for the victims of the Paris attacks.

Wednesday's edition of L'Equipe features an image taken in the stadium during the minute's silence, with the words "Thank You" in large bold letters.

The message in the tweet thanks England for the memorable tribute.

Tuesday night's match was not like a normal friendly; Wembley was decked out in the French Tricolore, and English and French fans traded old rivalries for an uplifting show of unity.
