SINGAPORE -- A woman's overly-concerned letter about someone knitting on a subway train got published in the nation's largest newspaper, so naturally it's become something of a viral meme thanks to creative commenters.

Tan Lay Hoon's letter to the Straits Times details her encounter on the train with another commuter who was cross-stitching.

Tan describes her fears of the possible danger around needlework in a moving train:

If the woman is pulling the needle in an upward movement and is caught unexpectedly by a sudden staggering of the train, an involuntary jerk of the hand holding the needle may cause the needle to jab at a fellow commuter sitting or standing close by.

To cap it off, her letter ends with what seems like rhetorical threat:

By the way, what circumstances warrant an activation of the emergency communication button?

It appears that the detailed account was too much for Singaporeans to handle. The Straits Times has received hundreds of comments written in the style of Tan's letter. Here are some of the best.
