With mighty Bayern Munich trailing 1-0 to Wolfsburg in a Tuesday night Bundesliga match, manager Pep Guardiola decided to sub in Robert Lewandowski at halftime.

It was a good idea. A very, very good idea.

The 27-year-old Polish striker netted a goal early in the half to even the score. By the time nine more minutes -- and an astonishing four more Lewandowski goals -- had elapsed, the scoreline read: Lewandowski 5, Wolfsburg 1.

Lewandowski's shocking outburst featured goals in the 51st, 52nd, 55th, 57th and 60th minutes. To make everything even more cosmic, he scored his fifth and final goal of the match nine minutes nearly to the second after he'd netted his first.

One of the craziest things I've ever seen. Lewandowski 51' Lewandowski 52' Lewandowski 55' Lewandowski 57' Lewandowski 60'.— Grant Wahl (@GrantWahl) September 22, 2015

Lewandowski's first and fifth goals were separated by a span of eight minutes and 59 seconds, according to ESPN, but it was his final score that was the real stunner.

Lewandowski's first goal was an opportunistic one, when he found himself in the right place at the right time:

His second goal was a sterling individual effort from outside the box:

He played a little patty-cake with the Wolfsburg goalkeeper before netting his third:

He neatly finished a cross for this fourth:

But this thunderous volley was Lewandowski's best score of the match, an appropriate capper to an unforgettable evening:

After Lewandowski's fifth goal, Bayern manager Guardiola -- a man who spent four years coaching Lionel Messi at FC Barcelona, mind you -- could hardly handle it all:

That's the look of a man feeling very, very good about his halftime substitution.
