LG seems to have found a way to expand smartphone screen real estate by adding a small, additional screen on top of the regular one.

The company sort of confirmed this with a short teaser video that shows us a glimpse of the unnamed device, scheduled to be unveiled at LG's event on Oct. 1.

The additional ticker screen, which was first seen in a September leak, is positioned next to the phone's front dual cameras and above the regular screen. Though pretty hard to notice when the phone is turned off, it gives it an asymmetrical look. The unconventional design is hinted at in LG's teaser video, which features a woman with a haircut that covers one eye.

No other details about the device were revealed. Evan Blass, who first posted an image of the device, claimed in September that it has a 5.7-inch QHD screen, an octa-core Snapdragon 808 processor, 3GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, a 16-megapixel camera on the back and a 5-megapixel one on the front.

We'll find out if those reports are true and the whole deal on that mysterious screen after LG's Oct. 1 event.
