LG G Pro Lite Has 5.5-Inch Screen, So-So Specs

LG launched the LG G Pro Lite, its latest smartphone to enter the already crowded market of midrange devices.

Sure, the 5.5-inch, 960 x 540 screen and 3,140 milliamp-hour battery sound pretty good, but the rest of the specifications aren't stellar: a 1GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage and an 8-megapixel rear camera (coupled with an 1.3-megapixel front-facing one). The device runs Android 4.1.2, an older version of Jelly Bean that's been available more than a year.

Other highlights include the embedded stylus pen, stereo speakers and dual SIM-card support with a dedicated hotkey to switch from one SIM to the other -- a clear indicator the device is aimed mainly at markets outside the U.S.

The LG G Pro Lite, which measures 5.9 x 3 x 0.37 inches and weighs 5.7 ounces, comes in black or white and will hit store shelves in Latin America this month. It will also be available in Asia, Russia, China, India and the Middle East shortly after, but the exact date is unknown.
