It's not every day you see a kid who loves books quite this much.

Jackson Dowler, 8, of Toronto, Canada, was reading an Asterisk comic book that he had borrowed from the library when the unthinkable happened: he accidentally tore a page out.

When he returned the book to the Toronto Public Library's drop box, he included a sweet, handwritten apology note inside the front cover.

The note reads: “I am sorry that a page ripped when it fell out of my [bed] when I fell asleep reading it. It won’t happen again. I’m sorry. From Jackson."

Jackson was mostly concerned about other kids not being able to enjoy the book. He told People that he and his parents tried to tape the page back together.

The library was very understanding, though; it even held a ceremony to honor Jackson for his kindness on Aug. 19.
