Last night, Yahoo jumped into the realm of “lifecasting,” launching a pre-beta of their new Yahoo Live service. Personal live video broadcasting as Yahoo calls it has been one of the emerging trends early this year, with startups like UStream, Justin.tv, and Mogulus enabling anyone with a webcam to broadcast to the Web. With Yahoo entering the space and rumors today that Microsoft may buy UStream, it would seem that interest in lifecasting is certainly on the rise. But is it something the masses will flock to?
