Occasionally, celebrities realize that Twitter feuds should not go on forever. Example: Four Non Blondes' Linda Perry and Lady Gaga have actually kept it pretty classy, ending their brief public dispute.

It started when Perry tweeted that Gaga didn't deserve an Oscar nomination for "Til it Happens to You," from the sexual assault documentary The Hunting Ground. The song is up for an Original Song Academy Award, with both Gaga and Diane Warren credited with its music and lyrics.

But Perry claimed that only one line of the song was altered between Warren's original demo and the final version that Gaga sings -- so they shouldn't share songwriting credit.

Congratulations to all nominees especially @Diane_Warren you wrote a beautiful song and @ladygaga gave a powerful performance.— LINDA PERRY (@RealLindaPerry) January 14, 2016

Warren herself disputed the claim.

Til It Happens To You was written for The Hunting Ground, an incredibly powerful documentary about sexual assault on college campuses— Diane Warren (@Diane_Warren) January 18, 2016

The song is the result of a special collaboration between myself and Lady Gaga. As Lady Gaga and I have consistly said. Til it Happens— Diane Warren (@Diane_Warren) January 18, 2016

To you was inspired by the countless survivors of abuse who need our support and love so they know they're not alone.— Diane Warren (@Diane_Warren) January 18, 2016

Perry subsequently backed down, and the whole thing ended up simply bringing more attention to an important issue.

My sincere apologies. I made a mistake to comment. I wasn't in the room when the #TIHTY was being written.— LINDA PERRY (@RealLindaPerry) January 18, 2016

More importantly, I wish the focus to remain on the great importance of the song and the message of the film.— LINDA PERRY (@RealLindaPerry) January 18, 2016

Take notes, Meek Mill.
