Dubstep Violinist Rides YouTube Fame to World Tour

"Have you ever seen a violinist really rock out??"

That's the tagline on Lindsey Stirling's YouTube channel, a page where her 1.5 million subscribers regularly help push her videos into the millions of views. And no, we've never really seen anything like her epic, acrobatic and aerobic violin performances.

Her video for "Crystallize" has now been seen more than 47 million times and was YouTube's 8th most-watched video of 2012. In terms of musicians, that puts her in pretty exclusive company: PSY, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Walk Off the Earth (for their Gotye cover) are the only other artists with music videos cracking the top 10.

While her original songs earned the description "Mozart Meets Skrillex" from USA Today, she's also known for her covers of well-known songs like "The Phantom of the Opera" and video game themes like "The Legend of Zelda."

In the midst of a 44-date North American tour, Lindsey stopped by Mashable HQ to talk about her viral success and give us a performance of "Electric Daisy Violin." Check out the interview above and see the whole performance below.
