LinkedIn Enables Inbox Search. Still Won't Match Email's Challenge.

No one manages more Web-based communications on an typical day than professionals of the business world. Particularly those folks savvy with the top social services of the day. Yes, for those of us with jobs, that likely means a mixture of regular Facebook and LinkedIn usage. Perhaps a bit heavier usage on LinkedIn, if it’s corporate ties that are being exercised.

So it makes sense that LinkedIn’s development team would spend its hours honing and expanding the functions of its network to ensure easier management of connections with colleagues, clients, etc. This week marked the emergence of one more item to make better use of one’s time as the data flows in at a steadily increasing clip: Inbox search.

As many, if not most of you know, Facebook in June added the ability for users to search their inboxes for information, rather than have to wade through messages page by page. An elementary feature to add in the middle of 2008, for sure, but it arrived all the same. Now LinkedIn follows suit.
