The CEO of LinkedIn has shared his vision for the company’s upcoming platform with the New York Times, and not surprisingly, it is going to be way different than the platform offered by Facebook.

Most importantly, unlike the openness of Facebook where anyone can develop an application, LinkedIn will only grant access to its API to approved companies. Additionally, these companies might have to share the revenue generated through their applications with LinkedIn, unlike Facebook where the revenue currently goes 100% to the developer. Meanwhile, CEO Dan Nye added that the company is looking to bring in $75-100 million in revenue next year, and noted that the average income of LinkedIn users is $140,000.
