LinkedIn may have just found a way to make its service a little more addictive.

LinkedIn announced on Wednesday that it is expanding on the Who's Viewed Your Profile section with a new feature that shows how your profile ranks compared to others at your company and to everyone you're connected with on the social network. The ranking is based on the number of times your profile has been viewed during the previous 30 days.

The Who's Viewed Your Profile section is already one of the most popular parts of the site, according to LinkedIn. By adding ever-changing rankings to it, LinkedIn may incentivize users to be more active. Or at least that appears to be the hope.

Next to the rankings, users will see a list of "easy ways to get more views," which includes suggestions for users to join a particular group or add a certain skill to their profiles.

When asked if LinkedIn introduced this feature in part to get users to be more active, a rep responded by saying it was about providing "inspiration" for users to "increase their presence" on the social network.

"Who's Viewed Your Profile and features like How You Rank are intended to provide members with data, inspiration and examples to help them increase their presence and discoverability on LinkedIn," a LinkedIn rep told Mashable, "whether that's through improvements to their Profile or relevant content that can be shared with their network."
