The day has come, people. We've reached the zenith of human achievement: We can now turn web links into emoji.

George Kedenburg III, a product designer at Facebook, and Eric Nakagawa, founder of the site I Can Has Cheezburger, just launched a simple website called Linkmoji that can turn any URL into emoji.

For anyone who's ever used the popular link shortener Bitly, Linkmoji should feel pretty similar. It's the same concept, except with emoji. Visit the website, here, or by adding a "pizza" emoji and a "poo" emoji, then writing ".ws" in your browser.

Linkmoji launched on Wednesday night, and it's already proving to be quite popular.

Nakagawa built Linkmoji, also called Project Pizza Poo after its emoji URL, in an hour using Parse, an app-development platform owned by Facebook.

Currently, the emoji URLs are automatically generated, but Nakagawa is working on developing a way to make custom links.

Linkmoji's functionality is a little wonky, but it seems to work for sharing links on Facebook and Twitter. However, other websites, including Mashable, currently have difficulty recognizing emoji as something that can be hyperlinked.
