Editor's note: An earlier version of this story stated that the bear cam was a live stream. We have since updated the story to note that the stream is prerecorded video from last season.

The great outdoors, from the comfort of your couch.

Each year, hundreds of brown bears trek a mile-long stretch of the Brooks River in the Katmai National Park and Preserve in Alaska searching for organic, local, stream-raised salmon.

Thanks to a $150,000 grant, we're able to watch the largest sockeye salmon run in the world via an operator-controlled stream. While this year's live stream won't be up for a few weeks, you can enjoy the prerecorded video from last season for the time being.
