Live Maps has released its latest version today; their sixth major release since the last summer. In addition to bug fixes, Microsoft has rolled out some new features as well.

Live Maps 3D is now supported on Firefox. The button can be added to your dashboard in order to streamline access to the 3D view. They've also added public business reviews entered by others. They've partnered with companies such as Judy's Book to populate this feature with tons of existing user-generated data. Microsoft has also added some more RSS functionality to Live Maps, enabling you to subscribe to someone's Collection, as well as adding a GeoRSS feed for improved information distribution. While not many RSS feeds have GeoRSS capabilities, the big ones including Google have already warmed to the idea.

Additional drawing and area calculation tools are included in Live Maps new feature set. See the area of a shape you draw on the map in square feet, acres, or kilometers to figure out exactly how big your neighborhood is. Other new features include Drag n’ drop re-ordering of items on your Scratchpad, enhancements to Live Maps traffic and driving directions, and Address-Only Geocoding, which defaults to the city you're viewing when you type in an address to be searched.
