Kip Kniskern of LiveSide is reporting that the latest numbers from Compete show Live Search gained some usage points over the previous month, as well as year-over-year. Live Search saw a month-over-month increase of 28.8% in search queries, which was the equivalent of 2 percentage points, driving its market share to just over 10%. For year-over-year this made search queries see a gain of almost 52%.

The increases could be due to the overall market seeing a 6% jump in growth, or it could also be in part due to Google showing a 1/2% drop, their first in nine months. The other possibility is it may be people leaving Yahoo search for a different pasture, as it shown to have fallen to a record low market share of 15%.
