There's no doubt that there are too many video sharing sites these days, but newcomer LiveVideo at least tries to innovate on the YouTube model. Seemingly launched in mid to late November, LiveVideo includes a Digg-like voting system, an interactive world map that helps you find videos by region, tagging, commenting, featured clips, the ability to switch between grid and list view, filters for the most viewed, most recent and most discussed clips and plenty of neat little additions that seem to go beyond the standard feature set.

The most noticeable feature is the customization: not only do profile pages come with custom designs to match your personality, but videos also appear against unique backgrounds, making for a more immersive experience. It goes without saying that they also have widgets: in addition to embedded players, you can grab a widget called "LiveVideo Lite", which displays all your favorite videos in one place. The content, meanwhile, feels somehow fake - it's as if they've employed whole teams of LonelyGirl15s to populate the site.

The market probably can't support the hundreds of video sites that have launched over the past few months, but YouTube could probably learn a thing or two from LiveVideo's intriguing new angle on this market. Other rivals (as if you don't know already) include MySpace Video, Metacafe and iFilm.
