The latest headlines are delivered through Yahoo Messenger to keep you up to date. You'll need to manually add this option. It's accessed under actions in the menu bar, and is listed as one of the plugins. This is somewhat similar to Google's traffic updates for maps and Google Earth, which integrates a level of real-time news options with another application for practical use.
