LONDON -- So Monday is St. Andrew's Day and Google has marked the occasion in the only way you'd expect: with a cute doodle.

The doodle in question features a lake designed to look like the Scottish flag, and a shadowy Nessie that emerges from the water to wink before disappearing again.

St. Andrew's Day -- the feast day of Scotland's patron saint, St. Andrew -- is a pretty big deal. It's been a national day of celebration for a long time, and an official bank holiday since 2007.

It's not surprising that Google would choose the Loch Ness Monster to mark the day, either. As well as Nessie being legendary across the world, the slippery beast has received attention from Google before. They've previously added a Loch Ness Monster travel option on Google Maps for those journeying from Scotland's Fort Augustus to Urquhart Castle, and earlier this year they released a 360-degree "street view" version of the loch.
