LONDON -- Remember Kaitlyn Regehr, the student who kicked off a viral campaign earlier in October to track down the man who stood up for her after another man groped her on a London bus?

Well in the last few days, Regehr has posted an update -- and it looks like she's found the man she was searching was.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3"; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));Last week I made a post in order to find a stranger who stood up for me on a bus. Here's Kaityln's update in full:

"Last week I made a post in order to find a stranger who stood up for me on a bus. Last night, I got to meet and thank this Good Samaritan and all round awesome dude - Firat!

The experience surrounding last weeks' post has been a surprising and powerful one. I am grateful to all who helped make this meeting happen; as well as to the metropolitan police, who have been really supportive; most of all, I am grateful the many who shared their own stories. In this way, the post went far beyond one person speaking out for another in the microcosm of a 207 bus towards Acton. It became an international and intersectional discussion. For that, Firat and I agreed, we are both very thankful.

Here's to following Firat's lead. Here's to taking stands and saying something - on 207 buses and beyond."

Firat Ozcelik came to Regehr's defence after another man grabbed her on the 207 bus towards Acton on Tuesday 6 October. Regehr posted a public message on Facebook thanking the the man who stood up for her -- whose name she didn't know at the time -- and asked people to share the message so she could track him down and thank him in person.

It is unclear what has happened to Regehr's alleged attacker, although her recent post suggests London's Metropolitan Police are involved.

Mashable has reached out to Regehr and we will update this article if we receive a response.
