LONDON – Fancy taking a quick underground tour through the tunnels of London's upcoming Crossrail service without even getting up from your chair?

Now you can, with this interactive video. The video, which Crossrail gave Mashable a first look at, was shot from the front of a construction locomotive as it trundled through the Crossrail tunnels between Stepney Green and Farringdon.

You can use the control panel in the top-left corner to look around as you journey through the tunnels.

If you fix your view straight ahead, you can peer along the tunnel.

The interactive aspect gives you a full 360 degree view.

If you turn the right way at the right time, you can see some pretty cool side tunnels, too.

And if things get a bit spooky down there, you'll always have the driver for company.

It took three years to complete the tunnels for the Crossrail service, which were burrowed out by eight tunnelling machines weighing in at a hefty 1,000 tonnes each. Forty-two kilometres (26 miles) worth of new tunnels have been created underneath London and its surrounding areas for the rail service.

Overall construction is over 65% complete, and the new service – which started in 2009 – is set to kick off in 2018.
