LONDON -- Thousands of people marched in the streets of central London on Saturday to show solidarity with refugees.
The Refugees Welcome Here demonstration, organised by the Stop the War coalition, was one of many planned across Europe under the banner of #EuropeSaysWelcome. The event's Facebook page listed events happening in more than 30 cities, from Amsterdam to Oslo to Prague.
Newly elected Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said his first act as leader will be to attend the demonstration at Trafalgar Square. Other speakers include Tim Farron, leader of the Liberal Democrats, and musician Billy Bragg.
