LONDON -- Imagine waking up in a post-night out fog, leaning over to check your phone and discovering an email politely informing you that you paid £102 to get home.

Now imagine opening up your Uber app to discover this.

According to Google Maps, the distance between the green dot and the red dot pictured above is four miles and the route should take 25 minutes (16 minutes without traffic).

For Londoner Daniel Kaizen, though -- who took an Uber home on Sunday after going out in Old Street to celebrate the last day of his cocktail bar job, according to BBC Newsbeat -- things took quite a bit longer.

"It was my last shift working in my cocktail bar, so when I say I was drunk, I mean, blindingly drunk," he told Newsbeat.

When he woke the next morning, Kaizen took a screengrab of his (not exactly direct) route home and tweeted it at Uber.

He went on to confirm that the company has since apologised and refunded him his £102 fare.

In a statement sent to Newsbeat, Uber said they are investigating what happened.

"Unlike other transport options Uber offers transparent receipts with a record of every trip and a map of the route taken so if there is an issue it can be resolved," a spokesperson said.
