Loopt's mobile social network, which lets you see where your friends are, among other media sharing features, has fully launched its application for the highly anticipated iPhone 3G today. Though Loopt previewed its new iPhone 3G application weeks ago, it made the complimentary updated application available for the Blackberry last month.
Loopt is free for users and can be found in the iPhone App Store. Features include Yelp integration for localized search and recommendations, Loopt Link for mobile blogging, photo-sharing and geo-tagging.
The joy, of course, is in the fact that Loopt's application can take advantage of the iPhone's touch screen and its newly introduced GPS support, which is particularly important for Loopt's mobile service. As iPhones continue to dominate the mobile market and take over the majority of mobile Web-browsing, the developer community will be further encouraged to make highly interactive mobile applications that prove simple to use for consumers.
