Currently number 12 in the social networking corner of Apple's App Store, the new and improved Loopt app adds a few cool extras including a "Friends you may know" feature, and a freshly redesigned interface.
Previously Loopt members could only add friends from their address book or via mobile number, but now the application suggests friends you may know using a friend of a friend recommendation system. The suggested friends list includes photos with names so users can quickly browse and tap photos to add new friends.
Loopt's redesigned interface also lets users get a profile view of contacts (before you could just see their journal), which includes options to create a route to that contact's location, see the contact's friends list, as well as view friends in common.
Loopt is also starting to experiment with banner ads — reportedly to keep it free — within the app, so you can expect targeted, location-aware, advertising as you update your location and discover where friends are.
