A 12-year-old Lorde covered Kings of Leon, and it was incredible

If Lorde's superstar status at the age of 17 hasn't totally intimidated you as an adult, this will do it. Proof has surfaced that the singer has been a bona fide rockstar since age 12.

The blog Consequence of Sound resurrected audio footage from 2009 of Lorde singing a stripped-down rendition of King of Leon's "Use Somebody" on an Auckland, New Zealand-based radio show (she then answered to the name Ella Yelich-O’Connor).

Even then, Lorde showcased the same powerful and haunting voice that helped launch her career and land her a gig curating the entire soundtrack to The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1.
