Los Angeles roadways are some of the country's most congested, but this mesmerizing clip imagines how the city might look without traffic.

Filmmaker Russell Houghten turned Los Angeles into a ghost town for his eerie and beautiful video, "Urban Isolation."

The clip features wide shots of skateboarders rolling down barren freeways and empty cross streets. Houghten's work is reminiscent of work from photographer Matt Logue and a 2011 video from videographer Ross Ching.

Houghten is selling prints taken from the video on his blog and plans to donate the proceeds to Los Angeles county animal shelters. He also released an accompanying behind-the-scenes video that shows how this tricky short film came together.
