It's not just about the iPad mini, Apple also unveiled a new Retina MacBook Pro at Tuesday's event in San Jose.

Back in June, Apple introduced the 15" Retina MacBook Pro. Today's version comes is a more compact, 13" Retina MacBook Pro. Specs of the device leaked out just hours before today's live event.

There are three base models of the new 13" MacBook Pro Retina:

2.5 Ghz i5 with 128GB SSD and 8GB of RAM, $1699

2.5 Ghz i5 with 256GB SSD and 8GB of RAM, $1999

2.9 Ghz i7 with 512 SSD and 8GB of RAM, $2199

Is this pricey? Yes. But trust us, if you spend any time with a retina MacBook Pro display, you won't want anything else. I've gone on record as saying the 15" MacBook Pro is the nicest computer I've ever used.

The 13" Retina MacBook Pro is just three-quarters of an inch thick and it weighs a full pound less than the existing 13" MacBook Pro.

And of course, there's the screen. The new MacBook Pro has a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600. To put that in perspective, that's a higher resolution than the 27" iMac.

Like the 15" Retina MacBook Pro, it has no optical drive, USB 3.0 and a full HDMI output (meaning you can easily do dual monitors). It also includes two Thunderbolt ports.
